The Pennsylvania Chapter did not take this endorsement vote lightly and we believe that all the candidates were strong and deserving of consideration individually. Candidates included many old friends who are very well-respected and deserving as well as candidates whose hearts are in the right place and who have exceptional experience. We hope to continue the important work of the Sierra Club with all of you and we believe that our votes were made in order to ensure a strong board going forward. The Pennsylvania Chapter recommends a vote for Aaron Mair, Michael Dorsey, and Kathryn (Kate) Bartholomew in the upcoming election for the Sierra Club's Board of Directors. Long-time outings leader from the San Francisco Bay Chapter Bob Solotar, explains his endorsement of the "Grassroots Choice" for the 2022 Sierra Club Board of Directors Election:
"The National Sierra Club needs to support the efforts of the volunteers at the Chapter level. The current Board seems to be spending its time acquiescing in efforts to consolidate decision-making away from the local chapters and engaging in group-think rather than encouraging local action and diverse thought in the Club. That is the reason I support the petition candidates. They will support the grassroots volunteers who are what makes the Sierra Club the strong and unique organization that it is." - Bob Solatar, San Francisco Bay Chapter Hiking Section Chair, Vice-Chair, SF Bay Chapter Activities (Outings) Committee, Member SF Bay Chapter Executive Committee 2002 - 2009, Life member and Club member since 1971. At a special meeting on February 14, 2022, the Michigan Chapter Executive Committee endorsed 3 of our slate: Aaron Mair, Kate Bartholomew, and Maya Khosla (plus Allison Chin and Cheyenne Branscum).

A large group of active Wilderness and Wildlands Activist members of the Sierra Club have sent a questionnaire to all the candidates requesting their views. The group has asked all the candidates what they believe are the best ways the Sierra Club can advance the contribution of land protection efforts to addressing the climate crisis, the biodiversity and loss of habitat crisis, and the corresponding need to grow our grassroots capacity from a foundation of equity.
